William F. "Bill" Roemer

Obituary

Mr. William F. "Bill" Roemer, 70, of Wewahitchka, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2007, in a Panama City Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Woodbridge, NJ, he had been a long time resident of Wewahitchka and worked as a surveyor doing road construction. He later worked for Taunton Truss Company. Mr. Roemer was a hard worker who loved children and who instilled a strong work ethic in his family. He played basketball for Wewahitchka High School in 1954, 1955, and 1956 and they won two State Championships while he was on the team. He attended Honeyville United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Roemer, and his parents, William Roemer, Sr., and Paula Roemer.
Survivors include his sons, Gary A. Roemer and wife Ann, of Wewahitchka, Michael A. Roemer of Pensacola, and Jeffery A. Roemer of Wewahitchka; his granddaughter, Natasha L. Roemer; his great-granddaughter, Ketyana Amarie Moore, both of Pensacola; three sisters, Pauline Frey-Scott and husband Bob of Statesboro, GA, Clara Harris of Williston, SC, and Virginia "Ginny" McCord and husband Roy of Woodville,FL; also the entire Taunton family.
The funeral service were held at 2:00 P.M. CDT Sunday, October 28, 2007, at the graveside in Roberts Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Anthony Cuchens. Interment followed. His nephews all served as active pallbearers. Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers were his basketball teammates. All services are under the direction of the Comforter Funeral Home, Wewahitchka Branch Chapel.
