Almeta (Gatlin) Nickson


Almeta Gatlin Nickson was born January 23, 1935 to the late Robert Cecil Gatlin and Johnnie Mae Gatlin in Apalachicola, Florida. She was a long time resident of Port St. Joe, Florida, and a member of Amazing Grace Apostolic Church. She departed life on Tuesday, November 20, 2007. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Nickson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Prenita P. Garner and Sonja L. Goldsborough of Stone Mountain, Georgia; her grandchildren, Marquetta Nicole Rolack and Israel Xavion Goldsborough, both of Stone Mountain, Georgia; three aunts, Vernell Lockley (Noah) of Apalachicola, Florida, Pauline Powell and Alberta Pickett of both of Orlando, Florida; one uncle, Melvin "Mack" Gatlin of Valdosta, Georgia; two sister-in-laws, Janet Powell and Bernice Nickson; one brother-in-law, Edward Nickson; four god-children, Renee Walton of Jacksonville, Florida, Ahmad Skanes of Panama City, Florida, Joey Peters of Hawaii, and Tristan Register of Panama City, Florida; Best friend and sister, Marie Bennett; special children, Byron Peters, Zachary McFarland and Pierce Wright.
She was the vice president of the Jolly Seniors where she was an area captain and a local captain.
All services were under the direction of the Comforter Funeral Home.
